Wicks / Wax / Scents

How Wicks Wax and Scents became a business venture for 3. I thought it would be a good idea for the readers here to learn how 3 young women formed a Partnership and Business. I think you will enjoy visiting their site and picking up firsthand knowledge. They are very helpful and will help you with any questions that might arise in your candle making processes

This is Starla's Story

Time does flutter by..... It's been fifteen years, since three homemakers huddled together for support and strength in a big business world. We were small independent crafters, Tammy, Lisa and myself, creating primitive candles and homemade crafts for resale in a very competitive market.

Seems like yesterday when I walked into Lisa's little country shop. Her unique country flare for decorating was charming and I lingered longer then usual.

As I looked around, I got to thinking and from nowhere, my dad's voice seemed to whisper in my thoughts. "When it came to business", he always said "Why do you think ten clothing shops will open in the same Mall?" His answer, "Because the more variety you have the more people will come."

He said it was the same reason McDonalds would build across the street from Burger King...because that's where the people go to eat!

I guess he took it from the old motto, there is power in numbers. I could feel the heat from the light bulb going on and off over my head!

A few of us hometown creative types should get together and do something. More people, more purchasing power, better creativity from banding together. Yet, each would still be in charge of their own. We could have individual paypal carts on line and keep our separate hometown store fronts out here in the real world!

As I looked around Lisa's cute country shop, I thought why not ask her. The most she could do is turn me down. I laid out my business proposition right then and there. She loved the idea.

Later that day, I called another crafter - Tammy and our alliance was borne. I take care of the website, whip up scented bears and sell fabulous candle scents, among other candle making supplies.

Lisa makes the wax, yes, I said she "makes" the candle wax. Plus, she has her own line of fab scents and handmade one of a kind primitive, faux food, country cute, candles.

Then there is Tammy, who when time allows offers her own handmade crafts. It wasn't long after the website was born, that another light bulb flickered over top my head....why not share how we do what we do with everyone else.

We started offering free candle and craft making instructions for others to use. We thought it would help others using our supplies, if we explained how we make our candles.

So we added a free candle making instructions section. Although we have added a bunch of other crafts to the instructions section, all have to do with the making and packaging of your candles or crafts.

Come visit us and let me share our unique candle making ideas with you. You can share some of your own if you like, we have a wonderful little message board for those who like to talk to others in the craft or candle making business.

See you soon at our Candle Making Shop .
Thank you,
Starla, Tammy, and Lisa
